Spec ops the line analysis.

Spec ops the line:    "do you feel like a hero yet"

spec ops the line is a 2012 third person shooter developed by a small German studio called Yeger development, spec ops is an extremely rare game for many reasons for one it went through about 5 years of develop hell before being picked up by Yeger, also unlike most games Yeger was given 100% story and game play rights so they could do anything they wanted and what they produced is one of the best games ever made.

in the game you play as Captain Martin Walker, who is sent into a post-apocalyptic Dubai win an elite Delta Force team on a recon mission, and at the beginning you would think its just a carbon copy of Call of Duty but as you progress through the story you watch as Walker's mental health deteriorates as he begins to experience hallucinations, Ptsd from his previous missions and slowly realises the horror of war.

In the game-play the player can select from four difficulty Levels: Walk on the Beach, combat Op, Suicide Mission, and FUBAR. various new weapons and equipment become available as the game progresses, some dropped by the enemy. at the beginning the player can also defeat enemies at close range via melee combat but as it progresses melee attacks become more and more brutal. dying enemies can be executed if the player wishes and at the beginning the player is granted ammo for doing this. Hiding behind cover can provide protection and prevent the player from being shot as well as create opportunities to blind-fire.

As a third person shooter with an emphasis on squad based tactics, players can issue commands to Sergeant Lugo and lieutenant Adams, who accompany the player for most of the game. there are a few environmental hazards like sandstorms which drastically reduce the the player's vision and visibility. Sand becomes a key game-play mechanic and players can manipulate it at scripted moments in the  game.

the Competitive multiplayer divides players into two different teams: the exiles and The Damned. there are are 6 game modes featured in the multiplayer which include:

  • Chaos: A free-for-all mode, in which players eliminate other players.
  • Mutiny: A team deathmatch mode, in which a team of players eliminates the opposing team.
  • Rally Point: A "King of the Hill"-styled match, in which players secure a rally point and accumulate score for their team.
  • Uplink: Both teams are tasked to capture a central rally point, and disable the opposing team's COM Station to prevent them from receiving points.
  • Attrition: Players engage in three team elimination rounds with only one life per round and no respawning until the round is over.
  • Buried: A team of players is tasked to destroy the opposing team's Vital Points, which reveal their High Value Target upon destruction. Players are tasked to eliminate the opposing team's target in order to win the match.
